Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals come with a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Tameside, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. You need a valid, full driving licence appropriate for the vehicle category, held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of your current address are required. Ensure you present valid payment information along with a security deposit. Additional conditions may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Tameside office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are usually required upon collecting your vehicle. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment platforms.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting your vehicle, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and both parties will sign it to confirm the status. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. Please return the vehicle with the same level of fuel as provided; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may result in extra charges, so please inform us as soon as possible if you anticipate being late. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental period, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. For complete coverage information and excess amounts, please refer to your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to help minimize your financial exposure. It’s advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount, unless covered by additional insurance. Responsibility for damage from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms lies with you, irrespective of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur charges, which can affect your overall rental costs.
7. Restricted Uses
Prohibited vehicle uses:
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or other dangerous actions is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is against policy. Operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes and within established passenger and weight limits. Driving beyond the agreed geographical boundaries without prior approval is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Tameside is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business related to your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will be capped at the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence, or for fraudulent activities.
9. Local Legal Framework
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of English and Welsh courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time. Updates take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
